Patient Participation Group

Every Painswick Surgery patient is by rights a member of our Patient Participation Group but to function effectively a small Core Group of up to 12 members is maintained. The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a collection of patients at a surgery, who have an interest in the services provided and who meet regularly with the doctors and practice staff in the interests of representing patients’ views and understanding the Practice’s ways of working better. Any registered patient can ask to be included in the Core Group and usually is welcomed.

We are here to support the practice and provide a two way communication channel. The Patient Participation Group works with the surgery to identify priorities for patients and contribute to proposals for any improvements or changes. The group maintains an interest in national developments in the NHS and tries to keep members abreast of changes.

We meet with Practice staff at least every three months including the senior partner, the head receptionist and the practice manager. Between meetings occasional patient-only meetings are held to identify issues and keep up to date. Members of the Group discuss general NHS and specific Practice issues and circulate latest news via the PPG email and Beacon newsletters. All registered patients are invited to join the circulation list for the email bulletins by completing our Patient Participation Group Registration form or contacting painswickppg@gmail.com. We raise issues which have caused general concern or worry for patients, as well as those which have been successful and helpful. The PPG does not generally handle individual concerns or complaints but can help individuals who need support in their dealings with the Practice.

If you have something to say but do not have the time to attend meetings, or have ideas on how to improve your local practice or just want hear about latest news and developments through our PPG newsletter, please join our PPG email list today.
