Dr Kevin P Barraclough (m)
MA MB BS 1985(London)FRCP DRCOG MRCGP LLB Dr Barraclough is one of the trainers and has interests in cardiology, ophthalmology, neurology, dermatology and Occupational Health.

Dr Jennifer A du Toit (f)
MB BS 1982 (London) FRCP DRCOG MRCGP Cert.Med.Ed. Dr du Toit is another trainer and has interests in rheumatology, gastroenterology and chest medicine.

Dr Rhys Evans (m)
MB BCh MCFP 1995 (South Africa) MRCGP
Dr Evans is also a GP Trainer and is interested in family health and minor surgery. He also does sessions in Casualty.

Nurses

Our two part-time nurses, Jane and Pam, see patients during surgery hours for blood tests, ear syringing, blood pressure checks, dressings, removal of stitches and injections. Please telephone for an appointment. The Practice Nurses also undertake Chronic Disease Monitoring for conditions such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease and high blood pressure. In addition, they also offer foreign travel advice.

Healthcare Assistants

Our Healthcare Assistant, Barbara, supports the Practice Nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement, dressings and ECGs. They may also act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Management

Nicola Hayward
Our Practice Manager, Nicola Hayward, in addition to management qualifications, has an MA in Health Care Law and Ethics.

Nicola runs the administration of the practice and will be pleased to help with any difficulties you may have. Your suggestions are always welcome and help us to improve services to you. Please contact Nicola with your ideas or any concerns that you may have.

Reception

Our staff are here to make appointments, answer your queries and give advice about services offered. Please give them as much information as possible. On telephone enquiries, we will check your identity before divulging any information. Please remember that everyone working at the surgery has signed a confidentiality clause in their contract and this is strictly adhered to.

Community Midwives

A midwife is present at all ante-natal clinics and will visit mothers and babies at home for 10 days after the birth. The midwife holds a clinic here at the surgery on a Monday afternoon. She can be contacted via her base at Stroud Maternity Hospital on 01453 562140

Community Nurses

Our district nurses team provides nursing care for patients who are confined to their homes. Contact them on 01452 812374 (answering machine).

Gateway Nurse

We have a Mental Health Nurse available by referral from the GP.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitor can give advice on health care, particularly for expectant mothers, small children, the elderly and handicapped. She can be contacted on 01452 562148 at their base at Stroud Maternity Hospital.

Counsellors

Counsellors are available both on the NHS and privately. We can provide you with a list of options if you are considering private counselling. Should you wish to consider counselling via the NHS, you would need to see one of the doctors first. He/she will then refer you to the community team and they will contact you directly to arrange a suitable appointment. There is a waiting list unfortunately for NHS counselling. Please ask at reception for further details.

Attached Staff

Osteopathy, Chiropody, Acupuncture & Private Counsellor

We have a private Osteopath, Paul Stamp, who is on site twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday. Appointments can be booked directly through his office on 01452 301748.

Maria Ranieri-Long is a private Chiropodist working at the surgery once a fortnight on a Wednesday. Her appointments can be booked via the reception team at the surgery.

Our Acupuncturist (a private service), Kate Tenney is here once a week and appointment are made directly with Kate on 07775 911297. Please ask for further details if you are interested in either of these complementary therapies.

Our private Counsellor, Lou Kemp, offers therapeutic counsellling and psychotherapy for individuals and couples. Lou is an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and on the UK Reigster of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Lou can be contacted directly on 07977 508811. NHS Physiotherapist

We now have an NHS Physiotherapist who comes to the surgery once a week on a Thursday, from Stroud General Hospital. Appointments are by referral from the GP and you are contacted directly by the Physio team with a suitable appointment.
